Just The Beginning Foundation (“JTBF”) will hosts a five-day Middle School Law Camp for sixty-five area middle school students at DePaul University Law School from August 23 - August 27, 2010. The students will meet with a myriad of legal professionals, hear from guest speakers, visit federal court, participate in a mock trial, and prepare and present an oral argument. Over the course of the program, the students will meet attorneys in different areas of the law.
PROGRAM DATES
Middle School Law Camp will run Monday, August 23 - Friday, August 27, 2010.
Program Costs
The MSLC is free to the students. JTBF will provide breakfast and lunch each day of the program. Students are responsible for their transportation expenses the first day of the program. JTBF will provide public transit cards for the remaining days of the program.
Application Process
The SLI program is open to current 6th, 7th and 8th . To apply, a student must submit:
1. Completed Application Form
2. Statement of Interest
3. Copy of Report Card
4. Completed Letter of Recommendation Form or a Separate Letter of Recommendation

2009 Highlights of the program included:
JTBF will continue to work with these 2009 JTBF Scholars during the school year by offering programs on skill focused topics such as college application and writing workshops. The students will also be paired with e-mentors to help guide them down the legal pipeline.
JTBF looks forward to offering the 2010 Chicago Middle School Law Camp next August and will post the application materials for this program online in February 2010.
